South Africa’s Economic Regulation Of Transport Bill Now Open For Public Comment

Key to seeing real progress in so far as access by the private sector to railway infrastructure owned by Transnet, as well as, the implementation of the National Rail policy, is the establishment of an Economic Transport Regulator. This new body will consolidate the economic regulation of Transport within one single framework.

The Bill specifically notes Access To Rail Infrastructure  – in terms of the determination of access costs and review of access agreements.

The Select Committee on Transport, Public Service and Administration, Public Works and Infrastructure invite you to submit written comments. Comments can be emailed to Mr Hlupheka Mtileni at hmtileni@parliament.gov.za by no later than Monday 27 March 2023.  Click here to access the document: ( see attached)
