The Minister of Transport has approved updated permit fees for the Railway Safety Regulator, in accordance with the National Railway Safety Regulator Act, 2002. The new fees will be charged by the Railway Safety Regulator for safety permits, effective from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.

Project update: Project Fact Sheet: EAC Railway Rehabilitation Support – Project Refurbishment of the Kampala-Malaba Meter Gauge Railway Line

Refurbishment of the Kampala-Malaba Meter Gauge Railway Line is underway with the EAC Railway Rehabilitation Support project. Uganda secured a loan from the African Development Bank to reduce transport costs and improve trade competitiveness. The project includes track rehabilitation, rollingstock upgrades, gender and social infrastructure, and more.
