Train Services Suspended in Zambia Due to a Damaged Bridge

We regret to announce the suspension of passenger train services in Zambia, due to the incident, on 10 April 2023, of an accident involving a Rescue Crane, which separated Class No. 299 in Mpika, making the main road impassable.

Therefore, the section between Mpika and Sabwa is temporarily closed for maintenance. This means that passenger train operations in Zambia have been disrupted and will remain suspended until further notice.

At the same time, in Tanzania, the Kilimanjaro Passenger Train will continue to travel between Dar es Salaam and Mbeya only, based on the regular train schedules, departing from Dar es Salaam to Mbeya, every Tuesday and Friday, and from Mbeya to Dar es Salaam Hello every Wednesday and Saturday.

The Authority is very sorry for any inconvenience caused to our dear customers.

We also take this opportunity to assure the public that our engineers are working day and night to restore normal train services as soon as possible.
