ZRL, SNCC Strike Fresh 5-Year Deal to Boost Cross-Border Rail

Zambia Railways Limited and Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer du Congo (SNCC) have renewed a five-year business agreement designed to strengthen cross-border rail operations and increase freight volumes.

The agreement, signed on April 28, 2026, at SNCC headquarters in Lubumbashi, signals a renewed push to revive the strategic Zambia- DR Congo rail corridor and unlock its commercial potential.

Leading the Zambian delegation in the company of the ZRL Managing Director, Eng. Cuthbert Malindi, ZRL Board Chairperson, Emmanuel Hachipuka described the deal as a “reset of a critical partnership,” stressing the importance of greater efficiency, accountability and cooperation in regional rail transport.
