Zambia To Spearhead Regional Connectivity With The 3rd Land-Linked Conference And Exhibition
In an ambitious move to enhance regional trade and mobility, the Zambian Ministry of Transport and Logistics in conjunction with the Zambia Development Agency and industry stakeholders is set to host the third iteration of the Land-linked Zambia (LLZ) Conference and Exhibition. This key event, slated for the 4th and 5th of April 2024 in Lusaka, aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among Southern African Development Community (SADC) member countries in the advent of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA).
This annual event comes on the backdrop of the recently held Lobito Corridor Private Sector Investor Forum in Lusaka and will host other port authorities from the SADC region including Beira, Dar es Salaam, Nacala, Walvis Bay, and Durban. Zambian Minister of Transport & Logistics, Hon. Frank Tayali, MP, will welcome over 14 SADC transport ministers who will each lead a strong delegation of the public and private sector from their respective countries. The conference will cover discussions on AfCFTA implementation, logistics solutions for mining, agriculture, and manufacturing, cross-border trade facilitation, rail and road investment for trade corridors, and climate-smart transport solutions.
With the theme “Connecting Zambia and SADC by Land to Facilitate Trade, Investments, and Ease of Movement of Goods and People,” LLZ 2024 seeks to explore and solidify transport corridors and business partnerships. These efforts are geared towards ensuring seamless movement of goods and services across borders, thereby reinforcing Zambia’s role as a strategic link in the SADC and COMESA corridor networks.
The conference has garnered significant interest, attracting regional and international transport and logistics stakeholders, including participation from over 16 countries, 700 delegates, and three African Transport Ministers. This diverse assembly underscores the importance and urgency of enhancing the transport and logistics sector within the region.
LLZ 2024 will serve as a strategic forum for exchanging ideas and addressing the challenges and opportunities within Zambia’s and the broader region’s transport sectors. The discussions are expected to contribute significantly to the advancement of the 8th National Development Plan’s goals, particularly in re-energising the transport sector and bolstering the participation of Zambian businesses in the transport & logistics supply chain.
Keen to share ideas and expand your transport and logistics networks and trade partners? LLZ 2024 is designed to smooth your industry operations in movement, distribution, warehousing, importing of equipment and raw materials, exports, procurement, trading, and the whole supply chain management.
This event marks a critical step towards realising the vision of a connected and economically integrated Africa where Zambia plays a pivotal role in facilitating trade and movement, further serving its neighbours and strengthening its land-linked status.
