The Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné is satisfied with the progress of the work on line 1 of the Abidjan metro. He said it this Thursday, February 1, 2024, after a visit to the northern section of line 1 of the metro, which extends from the municipality of Anyama to the Sitarail lagoon station in the Plateau.

“We were here two months ago to go through half of the northern section of line 1 of the subway. Today, we wanted to do the entire northern section of line 1 of the metro to see the progress of the work. I am very happy that things are progressing. The work is well done,” Amadou Koné was satisfied, not without thanking the National Office of Technical and Development Studies (BNETD), the Société ivoirienne de Construction du Métro d’Abidjan (SICMA) and the Société ivorienne de Gestion du Patrimoine ferroviaire (SIPF).

Continuing, the Minister of Transport stressed that the deadline for the end of the earthworks has been moved. “The earthworks continue beyond the Y4, a little further in Anyama. The Sitarail line is therefore always maintained. It should be completed next June. Afterwards, we will finalize the earthmoving for the metro part, then speed up the work, “he said.

Amadou Koné also welcomed the presence of young Ivorians on the construction site, as part of the Second Chance School. “It was indeed noted that as part of the Second Chance School, many young people were converted. They have been trained and are working on this project. For this, I would like to thank the Minister of Technical Education, Vocational Training and Apprenticeship, N’Guessan Koffi,” said the Minister of Transport.

According to him, the design of the Abidjan metro has been validated for more than a month. This, in collaboration with the Bnetd and the Primature. “The metro is being built so that we are confident about the 2027 deadline.”
