Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager Extension of Network Statement Slot Application

The Transnet Rail Infrastructure Manager (TRIM), in consultation with and with the approval of the Interim Rail Economic Regulatory Capacity (IRERC), has extended the closing date for slot applications under the Network Statement from 7 February 2025 to 27 February 2025.

This decision follows the receipt of requests from potential Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and access seekers, who have requested additional time to complete their applications in line with the revised framework introduced in the updated Network Statement.

TRIM recently published an updated Annexure 29b and an Addendum to Section 4-10, incorporating key changes to capacity allocation and transformation principles. These updates provide for the full opening of all slots across the network and introduce clarified equity-based access provisions for emerging operators and can be found on the Transnet Infrastructure Manager Website. The extension ensures applicants have adequate time to align their submissions with the updated application criteria.

TRIM remains committed to ensuring a fair, competitive, and transparent slot allocation process that fosters increased participation in the rail sector.
