Transnet Clamps Down on Internal Theft and Police Make Swift Arrest
Transnet Freight Rail ( has commended the swift efforts from internal TFR investigators and law enforcement authorities regarding the arrest of an employee linked to the illegal sale of Transnet freight containers. Management at the TFR Polokwane depot received a complaint from an anonymous caller that containers are being allegedly sold by a Transnet employee for R40,000.00 each.
Investigations were conducted and it was found that eight (8) containers were missing. An urgent investigation was undertaken, and a Transnet employee was identified. Witness statements were obtained, and a case of theft and fraud was registered with SAPS Polokwane CASS230/01/2023 and the employee was arrested Tuesday, 14 February 2023 and will appear in court today, Wednesday 15 February 2023.

These kinds of incidents set a poor precedent and damage our reputation.”
