The First Batch of 65 International Students Jointly Trained by China Civil Engineering and the Nigerian Federal Government Returned to China

On the evening of July 3, 2023, Beijing time, this group of international students departed from Beijing and returned to Nigeria. The leaders of China Civil Engineering in Beijing saw the international students off and congratulated the first batch of joint training international students on their return to China.
China Civil Engineering, the Federal Government of Nigeria, Central South University, and Chang’an University jointly trained international students starting in 2018. As of June 2023, China Civil Engineering has funded a total of 194 Nigerian students to study in China. Among the 65 students returning home this time, there are 49 undergraduates and 16 postgraduates, including civil engineering, transportation engineering, road bridge and river crossing engineering.

Ajani said that Nigeria should build a competitive railway transportation system. The many railways under construction need more professional and technical personnel. The graduates who returned this time have a broad space for development. “Please understand that you will play a key role in revitalizing the Nigerian railway industry,” she told the international students.
Cui Jianchun warmly congratulated the opening of the conference and said that this group of international students is a model of deepening talent training and exchanges under the “Belt and Road” initiative, an example of China-Africa cooperation in capacity building, and a microcosm of China-Nigeria in-depth cooperation. He hoped that the overseas students would contribute wisdom, knowledge and strength to the development of Nigeria through studying in China.
