South Africa: Railway Safety Act

On 30 June 2025, the South African Minister of Transport signed Proclamation Notice 269 of 2025 under the Railway Safety Act, 2024 (Act No. 30 of 2024). In terms of section 71(2) of the Act, it has been determined that the Act will come into operation on 1 August 2025, excluding the following sections:

Section 4, Section 34, Section 35, Section 38, Section 48, Section 50, Section 51, Section 52, Section 54, Section 55, Section 56, Section 62, Section 64, Section 65, and Section 68.
