Second Anniversary of the TransGuinean (CTG): A Bridge to Prosperity!
The Compagnie du TransGuinéen (CTG), the joint venture that brings together the Guinean State, Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), Baowu, Rio Tinto-SimFer and Chinalco, celebrates Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 July 2024, the second anniversary since its creation.
This first day of ceremony rich in colors and symbols was held this Monday in the presence of the President of the National Transition Council (CNT), Dr. Dansa Kourouma, the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, General Amara Camara, the Minister Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency and President of the Simandou Strategic Committee, Mr. Djiba Diakité and the senior leaders of the partner companies engaged in the co-development of the Simandou Megaproject.
In their occasional speeches, the Simandou industrial partners in this case, Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS), Baowu, Rio Tinto-SimFer and Chinalco, have essentially reiterated their firm commitments to the realization of the Simandou megaproject whose impact will be decisive on the Guinean economy. In particular in terms of tax revenues, jobs, training, contribution to the opening up of the country and the connection, through the 650 km railway, from agricultural production basins to national and international markets.
For the Minister Director of the Presidency and President of the Simandou Strategic Committee, Mr. Djiba Diakité, the Simandou megaproject goes beyond simple mining, it constitutes the future of Guinea. In the sense that, each tonne exploited will constitute a brick in the construction of a bright future for Guinea. A dynamic that will be realized according to the President of the Strategic Committee, in Guinea’s full participation in all decision-making, local capacity building, promoting skills development, empowering surrounding communities, local and ultimately content, on-site transformation of ore. Thus creating an economic and social development corridor.
This celebration was punctuated by high-level panels with the leaders of the Transguinean statutory conglomerates. In this case Dr. Sophie XIAOHUI of Winning Consortium Holdings and vice-chairman of Winning International Group; Ms. PING WU of Baowu Resources; Ms. Gérard Rheinberger of Rio Tinto-Simfer; Mr. ZHOU LINCHUA CIO of Chinalco; Maître Alassane Barry of Watson and Farley. The various themes during these panels addressed in particular themes on maximizing the local benefits of the Simandou project: the genesis and innovations of the Simandou project or the development of the Simandou corridor. The partners recognized during these enriching exchanges, the need, as wanted by the visionary President, General Mamadi Doumbouya, for pooling, given the scale of the project, which represented a real challenge for all stakeholders.
Beyond the remarkable presentation of the President of the Simandou Strategic Committee on the vision and progress made in the implementation of the project, the Minister of Mines, Bouna Sylla, moreover, President of the Board of Directors of the CTG, in essence, welcomed a project whose achievement will be a vector for the structural transformation of our Economy. The impetus by the Head of State of the Simandou 2040 program aims to resolutely place Guinea on the path to emergence.
