Sabotage Incidents Disrupt Senegal’s Regional Express Train Network
In June, the Regional Express Train (TER) network in Senegal experienced service disruptions following acts of sabotage. Strategic equipment essential to managing train operations was damaged, resulting in delays and slower train movements across the entire line in both directions.
The incident has prompted judicial investigations, with the Railway Transport Gendarmerie Unit (LGTF) working to identify those responsible. Authorities have stressed that the TER is a vital national asset for Dakar’s urban mobility and must be protected from vandalism.
SENTER and SETER—the companies responsible for managing and operating the TER—have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining safety and ensuring continued service for passengers.
