Public Consultation Opens for Gautrain Route Determination
The Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Roads and Transport has issued a notice of intent to determine the route for the Soweto Extension and Cosmo City Junction as part of the Gauteng Rapid Rail Integrated Network (GRRIN) Extensions Project. This follows the provisions of Section 6 of the Gauteng Transport and Infrastructure Act (No. 8 of 2001), as amended by the Gauteng Transport and Infrastructure Act (No. 6 of 2003) (GTIA).
Preliminary Route Determination
The Preliminary Route Alignment includes the following corridors:
- Little Falls Station to Jabulani Station (Soweto) via Roodepoort Station.
- Cosmo City Station to Samrand Station via Fourways Station, Sunninghill Station, and Olievenhoutbosch Station.
- Cosmo City Station to Lanseria Station via Cradle Station and Smart City Station.
Public Participation and Comment Process
The Preliminary Route Alignment Report and Environmental Investigation (EI) Report will be available for public review and comment from 26 February 2025 to 31 March 2025 at www.gautengrapidrail.co.za.

Printed copies of the reports can be obtained from the Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) offices by prior arrangement. Requests for collection can be made via:
