Opening of the Ta Line (Antananarivo – Antsirabe) for Train Traffic

On December 2, 2023, by message from the District Track Manager at 9:40 a.m., normal train circulation can resume on the entire line between Antananarivo and Antsirabe. The same day, the Chantier Draisine left Soanierana Station at 7:20 a.m. to arrive at Antsirabe Station at 11:36 a.m. Closed for traffic in 2019, the last train which linked Antananarivo – Antsirabe dated November 10, 2016.

Interventions are still being carried out to finalize the opening project, others still to be planned:

• Sanitation, cleaning of the platform and improvement of the geometry of the track to strengthen traffic safety;
• Improved signage;
• Development at the farm building level;

Trains will soon transport goods on this line such as hydrocarbons for the Vakinankaratra region, food products, etc.
