NGE Announces A Record International Order Book Of 588 Million Euros, Up 19% Over One Year
NGE is part of the high-speed railway line project in Egypt
In recent years, NGE, the 4th largest construction and civil engineering group in France, has accelerated the development of its international activities. Its international turnover (revenue) in 2022 has grown by 14% compared to the previous year, reaching 377 million euros and representing 12% of the Group’s total revenue. Regarding concessions, NGE announces having participated in the development of 1.2 billion euros of assets internationally.
At NGE, international activity is structured around five geographical areas: Europe, Africa, the Middle East, North America, and South America. The group’s growth is based on a balance between securing contracts for several major projects and developing sustainable regional activities around its sixteen permanent foreign locations.
Internationally, NGE has multi-trade expertise, allowing the group to offer a comprehensive range of design, construction, and maintenance services for all types of infrastructure. In 2023, NGE’s international activity employs more than 3,500 staff worldwide, representing 25% of the group’s total workforce, an increase of 108% compared to the previous year. This workforce growth accompanies that of the order book, which, as of July 1, 2023, was up 19% over one year.
The infrastructures on which NGE chooses to position itself and intervene meet strategic environmental or societal challenges for the concerned countries. For the first time, the group provides an overview of its contribution to these challenges: 50% of its projects are dedicated to sustainable mobility, 14% to the digital transformation of territories, 9% to adaptation to climate change, 8% to the promotion of renewable energies, and 4% to responsible water management.
NGE brings its expertise in project financing through NGE Concessions. This expertise in financial engineering allows the Group to expand the scope of its activities by positioning it on markets including maintenance, and in some cases, the operation of infrastructures. Today, 25% of the assets invested by NGE Concessions are on international projects such as Ferrocarril Central in Uruguay or LCR Connect in the United Kingdom. The group’s ambition is to quadruple investments in concessions over the next five years.
Orso Vesperini, Deputy CEO International of NGE, states, “NGE’s international news is very rich. A few months after winning the contract for 330 km of high-speed line in Egypt, we celebrated in July the impoundment of the Nachtigal dam in Cameroon, of which we are the civil engineering project leader. This dynamism reinforces our objective: to double NGE International’s activity in five years.”
To date, the growth of the group’s international activities has been built organically, but the management has announced that it is examining several acquisition opportunities.
