The goal is for South Africa to become a prominent player in the global freight industry through a thriving railway system and increased investment.
Freight Rail Returns to the Department of Transport
During her speech, the Minister highlighted that the President announced the return of freight rail to the Department of Transport. This development emphasizes the need to urgently implement the National Rail Policy. The Minister called for proposals to accelerate the revitalization of both passenger and freight rail, covering structure, strategy, programs, and plans.
