Minister Mbarawa is Satisfied With the Trials of the SGR Train Head
Minister of Transport Hon. Professor Makame Mbarawa makes a short visit to see the tests of the electric train head of the international standard railway – SGR located at Pugu station in Dar es Salaam on December 11, 2023.
Prof. Mbarawa said that the goal is to see the working capacity of the SGR electric head where it is currently undergoing various tests.
“The first tests are carried out as tests of brake systems, electric and wind brake systems with a speed of 160 km, I am satisfied that the head is good and has great potential,” said Prof. Mbarawa
Prof. Mbarawa has explained that the head is one of the 17 heads that the Government has bought from South Korea worth 254 Billion Tanzanian Shillings, while the other three heads are expected to arrive at the end of December.
“After these tests, the next test is to close this head with wagons from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro” said Prof. Mbarawa
In addition, Prof. Mbarawa has urged the people to continue to be patient and as soon as the tests are completed and satisfied to start passenger and cargo journeys, the people will surely benefit from the fruits of SGR.
SGR will provide opportunities and simplify the lives of Tanzanians by using a speed of 160 kilometers per hour where it will take one and a half hours from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro and three hours from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma as well as seven hours from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza .
