Kenya: Seeking Consultancy Services For Kisumu – Malaba SGR
Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC), has set aside funds in its budget toward the cost of procuring consulting services to undertake a Relocation Action Plan (RAP) – for the proposed construction of the Kisumu – Malaba SGR.
The proposed 107km, Kisumu-Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) referred to as SGR Phase 2C, is a regional project aimed at improving the regional connectivity from Naivasha to Malaba and Kampala with links to South Sudan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The key components of the proposed railway project include rail, sleepers, tunnels, bridges, stations and locomotives.
The RAP study aims to pinpoint individuals and structures in and around the immediate vicinity of the planned Phase 2C alignment corridor, evaluate the potential impacts arising from the construction and operation of the railway line, and suggest suitable compensation/mitigation strategies for the revival of livelihoods.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) for this activity has been issued and the deadline is 28 December 2024.
