Kenya Railways Signs Contract for Modernisation of Nairobi Line 5

Kenya Railways Corporation has signed a contract for the modernisation of the Nairobi Central Station–Embakasi Village railway line, known as Line 5.

The contract was signed in Nairobi on 10 May 2026, in the presence of Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, and William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.

The civil engineering and railway infrastructure package will be executed by a consortium comprising UNIFER, CIM, Egis and Infras Group. The consortium brings together expertise in engineering, systems and railway works.
