IHHA is pleased to announce that Registration for the 12th International Heavy Haul Association Conference 2023 is Now Open! The Conference will take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on 27 – 31 August 2023 at the Windsor Convention & Expo Centre.
The conference is being hosted by the International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA), in partnership with the co-hosts MRS and Vale.
The theme of the Conference is: “Application of Heavy Haul Innovations for a Sustainable World”
The conference will include presentations of technical papers in research and development areas in line with the theme and sub-theme, such as Rolling Stock, Vehicle Track Systems and Energy Efficiency. It will consist of a 2-day pre-conference Technical Workshop, 3 days of the Main Conference Plenary and Parallel Sessions, great social events and 1 day for the Technical Tour.
A total of 508 Abstracts were submitted by authors from 120 organizations and over 30 countries, under all 50 of the themes & sub-themes of the conference. This promises to be a bumper packed programme.
The Technical Workshop will be held 2 days before the conference. It will feature international railway technical experts who will present on selected topics within the railway’s best practices. The Technical Tours for delegates involving site visits to MRS Logistics Heavy Haul railways and Vale facilities.
The conference will also offer delegates an opportunity to explore Rio de Janeiro, renowned as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A great selection of Pre & Post Conference Tours and Day Tours will be made available, for those who wish to take advantage of their visit to Rio De Janeiro and Brazil, by making time for some sightseeing. The Social Events programme includes a Welcome Function at Sugarloaf Mountain. A Gala Dinner and Cocktail Functions.
