HM King Mohammed VI Kicks Off Structuring Railway Projects for Greater Casablanca

Casablanca, 24 September 2025 – Following the launch by His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the construction of the Kenitra–Marrakech High-Speed Line, the Sovereign has inaugurated the start of work on major structuring projects in the Greater Casablanca metropolitan area. Valued at 20 billion dirhams, these projects represent a decisive step in the implementation of this ambitious national initiative.

The programme includes:

  • 260 km of new electrified tracks

  • Construction and widening of 50 engineering structures

  • Construction and reinforcement of 11 electrical substations

  • Construction of 10 new local stations

  • Requalification and adaptation of 5 existing stations

  • Construction of 3 new-generation stations

  • Construction of 2 technical centres and 5 maintenance workshops

  • Acquisition of 48 new trains for local and regional services
