Groundbreaking Set for Oyo State Agro-Industrial Processing Zone as Nigeria Expands SAPZ Programme
On Saturday, 2 August 2025, a groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the Oyo State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) in Atan, Ijaiye, Oyo State, Nigeria. This marks the third SAPZ launched under Phase I of the programme, following earlier launches in Kaduna and Cross River States.
Led by the Federal Government of Nigeria, the African Development Bank Group, and the Oyo State Government—with support from the Islamic Development Bank, IFAD, and the Africa Grow Together Fund—the Oyo SAPZ is strategically located on a 300-hectare site near the Lagos-Ibadan Railway to ensure market and transport connectivity.
With a total programme investment of $538 million, SAPZ is the Bank’s flagship agricultural initiative under its Feed Africa High 5 strategy. The Oyo SAPZ will focus on value chains in cassava, maize, poultry, and horticulture, aiming to create jobs, increase incomes, and strengthen food systems.
