Gabon – SETRAG Funding III

The project finances Phase III of the Transgabonese Railway Rehabilitation Plan and refinances part of the existing debt of Société d’Exploitation du Transgabonais, the concessionaire operating the line under a 40-year agreement with the Republic of Gabon.

Phase III includes upgrading the railway superstructure, modernising traffic operations and safety systems, and implementing environmental and social measures. The objective is to restore the line’s design capacity to 16 train pairs per day.

The Transgabonese railway is critical to the transport of manganese ore for export and supports forestry operations, passenger services and general freight, including essential goods. It remains a strategic asset within Gabon’s broader economic diversification agenda.
