Foundation Stone to Be Laid for Gambia’s Deep-Sea Port Project in Sanyang
The Government of The Gambia has announced that the foundation stone laying ceremony for the country’s new Deep-Sea Port will take place on Saturday, 5 July 2025, in Sanyang Village.
The 12-metre deep facility forms part of a strategic partnership between the Gambian Government, the Gambia Ports Authority (GPA), and Albayrak Group, under the Alport Banjul concession agreement. President Adama Barrow is scheduled to officiate the ceremony, formally launching the project.
This port development represents a significant milestone in expanding The Gambia’s maritime infrastructure, designed to accommodate larger vessels and boost trade capabilities. According to Hon. Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, the project aims to stimulate economic growth and enhance regional connectivity across West Africa.
