Espresso: Passenger train to boost trade and tourism in Nacala
Past three decades, Nacala Logistics introduced last Sunday, 08 October, the passenger train on the Nacala-Nampula stretch, an event that was headed by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Matthew Magala.
In his speech, Transport and Communications Minister Matthew Magala said the introduction of this mode of transport in the Nacala-Nampula stretch apart from facilitating trade exchanges between towns in the northern region of the country will boost tourism as it will be providing a reliable alternative of regular and safe mobility of people at relatively low costs, to visit the pleasant beaches of Nacala, Nacala-à-velha, Memba, Mozambique Island and Mossuril.
“This is a historic moment for all of us, as it marks the rebirth of a hope for thousands of Mozambicans, who live and work along the Nacala Corridor. With the resumption of the passenger train, between Nacala and Nampula, Monapo railway station resumes its role as a tourist convergence point, which flow to the beaches of Mozambique Island, Chocas Mar – Mossuril, among other places of interest,” said Magala.
In his turn, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nacala Logistics Abhay Mishra said he is aware that the introduction of the Nacala-Nampula passenger train is a wish of the people of this province, and assured that Nacala logistics will do everything possible to enable the train to run smoothly and efficiency.
