De-Sadel Consortium Unveils Ambitious High-Speed Bullet Train Project at 2nd International Railway Conference

The recently concluded 2nd International Railway Conference and Expo closed with a major announcement as De-Sadel Consortium unveiled its ambitious High-Speed Bullet Train Project, aimed at transforming rail transportation in Nigeria.

The presentation of De-Sadel’s proposed ultra-modern bullet train network was a key highlight of the two-day event. The project envisions trains capable of reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h.

The first phase of the network is designed to connect major cities, including Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kano. It is expected to significantly cut travel times, ease the movement of people and goods, boost regional trade, and create major economic opportunities.

De-Sadel Consortium stated that the project would generate millions of direct and indirect jobs, attract foreign investment, and support the government’s agenda for sustainable infrastructure development.

A conservative business analysis presented at the event projected that if just 5% of Nigeria’s population made 10 round trips per year at $100 per trip, the project could generate up to $10 billion in annual revenue. With a 50-year lifespan for high-speed rail infrastructure, the initiative is positioned as an attractive proposition for foreign partners.

Nigeria’s rich gas reserves were cited as a key enabler for the project. De-Sadel plans to construct an 8,000-megawatt gas power plant, using 2,000 megawatts to power the trains and supplying the remainder to the national grid. This approach would allow the trains to operate effectively at no cost while providing revenue for the government.

The surface high-speed rail network is expected to open new industrial cities and super shopping malls along its routes. De-Sadel encouraged Nigerians and international investors to support the vision and participate in the project’s development.
