Uyui District Asks Citizens to Cooperate in the Land Acquisition Exercise
Uyui District Head Ndugu Zakaria Mwansasu has asked the people of Malongwe village to cooperate with the team from Tanzania Railways – TRC in the ongoing land acquisition exercise in Tabora region, April 2023.
Brother Mwansasu spoke to the people in the awareness meeting held for the preparation of the land acquisition through the relocation of the graves passed by the international level railway construction project – SGR section three Makutupora – Tabora with the aim of giving the contractor an area to continue construction.
“The government is building the infrastructure, it is ours and it is spending a lot of money, so I ask you to cooperate with this team and that there should not be anyone who obstructs the exercise” said Mwansasu
Engineer Rajab Mahaja from TRC explained the procedure for moving graves where the graves visited by the project will be classified and moved based on health procedures through district health professionals and moved to official places following the procedures of the relevant religion.
“The areas that will be taken for the construction of the world-class railway will include areas for taking debris, areas for dumping debris unsuitable for construction and areas for the construction of railway infrastructure,” added Engineer Mahaja.
Health expert from Uyui District Mrs. Mary Kayombo urged the people to show up on the day of the relocation exercise to ensure that the graves are moved to the official locations planned by the village government. He also urged citizens to stop burying in residential areas to avoid the relocation of graves in residential areas when development projects want to be implemented.
The government through the Tanzania Railways continues with the implementation of the modern railway construction project in Dar es Salaam towards Mwanza and Kigoma. Among the initial activities of the implementation of the project is the acquisition of land in order to hand over the areas to the contractor so that he can continue with the construction. The SGR project is implemented in a standardized construction style, so the land acquisition exercise is continuous according to the needs of the contractor.
