CCCC Safety Comprehensive Supervision Working Group inspects Mombasa-Nairobi Railway

On March 30, Zhang Rongliang, deputy general manager of the Safety, Quality and Environmental Protection Supervision Department of CCCC, led the CCCC Safety Comprehensive Supervision Working Group to inspect Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, accompanied by Li Jiuping, general manager of African Star.

The inspection team first visited the African Star self-made water plant, the safety warning hall, the staff training center, the clinic, the basketball court, the gymnasium and the Chinese staff’s apartment. Then, take the road train to inspect key stations, tunnels and key locations of recent continuous water damage and external safety hazards on the Neima section of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway.

During the return journey of the road train, Zhou Hongpeng, safety director of Africa Star, made a special report to the inspection team on the safety management work since the opening of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway. Zhang Rongliang fully affirmed that African Star always puts safety in production as the top priority, and expressed continuous and stable safety, especially expressed his gratitude to Kenya for its hard work during the epidemic and the 2022 general election. He believes that African Star has a sound safety management system and strong execution, and is a team that dares to fight tough battles and can win battles. He asked African Star to implement the overall safety management requirements of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and China Communications Group in the next stage, solidly carry out risk management and control and hidden danger investigation and management, open up the “last mile” of safe production, and take train operation safety as the core task of safety. Consolidate the safety responsibilities of all employees to prevent safety accidents. At the same time, he said that CCCC and the Ministry of Safety and Quality of China Road and Bridge should provide policy support and background support for the safe operation of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway.
