Botswana Transport and Infrastructure Stats Brief Q2/2025

In October, Statistics Botswana issued the Transport and Infrastructure Stats Brief for Q2/2025, noting that a 9.3 percent increase was recorded in the volume of goods transported by rail, rising from 196,637 net tonnes in the previous quarter to 214,814 net tonnes in Q2 2025.

An amount of P53.2 million was generated from the transportation of these goods, representing an increase of 12.0 percent compared to the P47.5 million recorded in the previous quarter. Of the total goods moved, 35.5 percent were imports, 33.0 percent were exports, and 24.2 percent were freight from local traffic. Goods in transit accounted for 7.3 percent of the total.

Most of the goods were moved during May, representing 36.9 percent of the total, while goods transported in June and April constituted 36.2 percent and 26.9 percent respectively.
