Announcing The Upcoming Africa Integrated High Speed Railways Network Continental Workshop
Mark your calendars for the forthcoming Continental Workshop for the Africa Integrated High Speed Railways Network (AIHSRN) from 30th May to 2nd June 2023, set to take place in Midrand, South Africa.
This crucial workshop is designed to engage Member States & RECs involved in the AIHSRN pilot projects, aiming to shape their national readiness plans. The agenda includes assessing the preparedness in policy, technical and financial frameworks to implement the respective project links as part of the AIHSRN Master Plan’s 10-year implementation scheme. It will also map guiding principles for the AUC-UIC Cooperation and African Railway Development Guidelines.
Objectives of the Workshop
- To develop a national readiness plan for each AIHSRN pilot project;
- To popularize specific provisions of the DSS, including the Master Plan;
- To recommend an accountable institution/contact championing day-to-day implementation & periodic reporting;
- To identify ways for continuous engagement, raising ownership and commitment at national and REC levels;
- To understand the status, challenges, and areas for further support to the African Union of Railways;
- To define a 2-year action plan to frame AUC-UIC cooperation to support the implementation of the roadmap for an African Continental Rail Market;
- To unfold the scope of the African Railway Development Guidelines.
