Angola Launches Tender for Namibe Corridor Railway Concession
Angola’s Ministry of Transport has opened an international public tender for the concession to operate, manage and maintain the Namibe Corridor railway system. The process is authorised under national public contracting legislation and a recent presidential order.
The concession covers the Moçâmedes to Menongue Railway Line and associated services across the provinces of Namibe, Huíla and Cubango. It includes responsibility for railway infrastructure, general cargo and mineral transport operations, the Centre for Innovation and Transport Technologies (CITTRANS), and the workshops in Lubango and Sacomar.
The concession period is set at 30 years, with the possibility of extension to up to 50 years if a future branch rail connection to Namibia or Zambia is incorporated. The tender is open to foreign participants.
