Alstom Has Completed Beni Suef Assuyt Signalling Mainline Project In Egypt
Alstom, has successfully put into commercial service the signalling upgrade of the Beni Suef Assuyt (BSA) railway line covering 15 stations between Beni Suef and Assyut officially opened to the public.
As part of its contract to construct the 250-kilometer BSA line, Alstom was responsible for every aspect of the design, installation, testing, and commissioning. The comprehensive upgrade features an advanced SIL 4 signalling electronic interlocking system, known as the IXL SmartLock 400 GP solution, which ensures maximum safety and reliability. In addition, the system includes a robust support system and SCADA technology that enables operators to deliver consistently high levels of performance and availability. Alstom’s highly acclaimed Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) system, TLC system, and 11kV power supply substation provide versatile, user-friendly control over the entire network’s operation. Together, the system components ensure a world-class rail service with superior functionality and flexibility.
Trains on this line will be able to run at high speeds of up to 160 km/h, covering a distance of 250 km with stops at 15 stations. With a capacity to transport up to 60,000 passengers daily, this 24-hour service is a vital transportation lifeline for people across Egypt.
