Two SD40-30 Locomotives Ready to Go to Gabon

CIM, agent of EMD ProgressRail (Caterpillar Group) in Africa, has received two rehabilitated second-hand SD40-3 locomotives, refurbished and modernized in the ProgressRail Brazil factory located in Sete Lagoas (Minas Gerais).

Standard track – 3000HP – 16 cylinder engine

These locomotives, recently retired from operation in Brazil, have undergone a complete overhaul with OEM components in the workshops of ProgressRail, the original manufacturer.

They are equipped with LAF automatic couplings and a completely new ZEIT control system (allowing complete monitoring of the machine).

These locomotives will be put into service in Gabon by the Société d’Exploitation du TransGabonais (SETRAG).

The loading of the locomotives on trailers, for transport by road to the port, has just taken place in mid-December 2022.

The arrival and commissioning in Gabon is scheduled for February 2023.
